Giora has released ‘POWER CANDY’ on 17 April via their label Holypop, the third single taken from the EP FREEWAY, which arrives 1 May 2026. The London-born and based multi-modal creative works as singer, songwriter, producer, performer, creative director and sound artist. After growing up in North London with lessons in classical piano, vocals and music theory, they started writing and performing their own material as a teenager in a band. Time spent in New York led to orchestral composition classes at Juilliard, after which they taught themselves electronic music production and released their 2023 critically acclaimed debut album It’s So Quiet But I Hear You. Giora has shared stages with Isabella Lovestory, Varg, Babynymph, Elisabeth Elektra, Puce Mary, Kelora and Felix Lee, picked up support from NOTION, CLASH and Wonderland Magazine, and played CREEPY TEEPEE Festival in the Czech Republic, KWIA in Berlin and Bike Jesus in Prague. In London they have appeared at Gossamer Fog, Spanners, Niche, Pocket Radio, The Divine and The Glory, while their sound installations have been exhibited at Rich Mix and Stanley Arts. They also run the Holypop label and live events that platform UK and European queer experimental artists.
‘POWER CANDY’ centres on the intricacies of power dynamics, shaped as a gothic love song that draws out a softer and more vulnerable tone in Giora’s work and creates a space of an all encompassing warmth and lingering introspection. The track runs on their distinctive vocals and precise lyricism, set against an array of prominent synth textures, a breakbeat-driven chorus and a dark recurring electric guitar line. Written by Giora, it was produced and mixed in collaboration with Czech producer Oliver Torr (Sunnbrella, Palmistry, Evita Manji) and mastered by Canadian film and video game composer Zac Tiessen. The song has already been performed live in Berlin and Prague and sits comfortably with listeners drawn to Caroline Polachek, Oklou, Depeche Mode, Placebo, SOPHIE and FKA twigs, continuing the experimental pop approach that pairs strong melodies and considered words with inventive sound construction.
