The philosophy of openness and natural development are key themes in yetep‘s debut album, The ÿ Album, which came out on February 27 through Lost In Dreams. Born in Seoul and now living in Los Angeles, yetep has focused on building community with his project Common Unitÿ, supporting homeless youth and promoting mental health awareness. These values of honesty and shared experience are central to the album and shine through in his production.
The album blends melodic bass, future bass, and energetic EDM, giving each song its own spotlight while telling the story of yetep’s journey. It starts with the heartbreak of ‘Same Love Twice’ featuring Rosie Darling, moves into the lively dubstep of ‘Take Me Down’ with Casey Cook, and ends with the uplifting ‘Paint The Sky’ with Amidy. This open structure reflects the creative freedom of yetep’s early mixes that first inspired his love for music.
yetep shared: “This album came together over a long period of time and reflects where I am both musically and personally. Rather than starting with a strict concept, I wanted to let the project develop naturally and feel open, the same way my relationship with music began. Each track exists in its own world, but together they represent the freedom and curiosity that first inspired me to create. At its core, this album is about connection and honesty, and creating space for listeners to take away whatever the music means to them.” As a result, The ÿ Album stands as his most expansive work, pushing boundaries while staying rooted in the live energy and curiosity that shaped his rise as a dynamic force in bass-driven electronic music.
