Camden-born multi-instrumentalist, producer, and singer-songwriter Tommy Down is fast becoming a soulful force to watch. His breakout single ‘Mrs Blue’– a lush, romantic slow-burner from his 2024 album 21st Century Living – has racked up over 5.7 million streams on Spotify, earning praise from Radio X and Earmilk, while steadily growing fanbase entranced by his heartfelt sound.

Tommy’s music exists in a dreamy intersection of soul, psych rock, and jazz, all filtered through a deeply personal lens. His latest single, ‘Do You Want It All?’, offers a woozy, genre-blurring taste of his upcoming 2025 EP, premiered on CLASH Magazine.

With a background steeped in musical heritage, Tommy’s journey began at 14, weaving jazz, soul, and rock influences into a style uniquely his own. He’s collaborated with top-tier producers like Jeffrey Silverman and Grammy-nominated Invisible Men duo Jon Shave and Jason Pebworth. His cinematic songwriting has also caught the attention of HBO, with six of his tracks featured across three seasons of Industry – co-created by his brother, Mickey Down.

‘Mrs Blue’ is a stripped-back gem, pulsing with Al Green-esque grooves, airy harmonies, and Tommy’s velvet voice dripping with longing. Think John Mayer meets Maroon 5, bathed in candlelight and melancholy.

Tommy told us: “The song was produced by Grammy and Brit award winning producer Jon Shave. I brought Jason Pebworth, one of the Invisible Men, a song I wrote about my girlfriend. I felt blue one weekend because I felt like my girlfriend was too but we hadn’t spoken about it. It felt like a sixth sense and I wrote a song about that feeling. Jason and I started writing a new version of the song and I completely changed the lyrics. Jason suggested getting a sort of Al Green ‘Lets stay together’ beat for the track, which worked very well.”
