Alain Clark is the Triple-platinum soul prodigy taking the world by storm with his monumental voice and distinguished artistry. His latest single ‘Pressed Out Emotions’ was released on September 6th via A Sides, it also premiered and received support from notable tastemaker NOTION.

Alain is by no means a newcomer, as the Dutch-born artist was signed to Warner Music UK in 2009, and has since racked up over 130 million streams across platforms, was awarded Triple-platinum status for physical sales in The Netherlands, received support from BBC Music as well as The Mirror, and opened for legends like Amy Winehouse and Lenny Kravitz.
‘Pressed Out Emotions’ is another exquisitely sublime offering from the singer-songwriter. It was produced and mixed by David Michael Ott (A Tribe Called Quest), mastered by Mike Bozzi (Kendrick Lamar, The Weeknd) and written by Alain, David Michael Ott as well as Alex Duncan VI.
The single is a powerful heart-centred elixir that’s as liberating as it is emotionally striking. It’s a poignant offering from Clark that illustrates his mastery as a musician, as well as his ability to remain consistent and expansive throughout his career. ‘Pressed Out Emotions’ is a glorious fusion of jazz, R&B and soul, with Alain’s iconic vocals as the cherry on top melting over the symphony of instruments. The track opens with gentle guitar chords, followed by an enticing drum kick and a sweet shaker, all of which set the stage for Alain’s hypnotic vocals and the opening verse.
The song quickly shifts into the chorus, where Alain sings about a connection between two people where one desires freedom, but the other wants to tighten their grip and hold on. After the chorus, the pace shifts again, this time slowing down, with the instrumental arrangement contracting and creating space for Alain’s vocals and the lyrics to serve as the main attraction. The chorus then drives the track home, with Alain showcasing his profound vocal range at the end of the song.

The track to me feels like an all analog, lowrider cruise down Crenshaw Blvd, car windows down with a golden hour palm tree backdrop.”
