With her new single Hello three minutes and fifteen seconds of pure love pop – Ukrainian singer Shayri today resumes the international artist career that was brutally ended by the Russian invasion of her homeland last winter. Since March of last year, Shayri has been living in Sweden, where, with Stockholm as her base, she can now dedicate herself to music again.

“The song is about love. We are talking about a very sensual, reverent, naive, first love,” says Shayri. I’m very excited about its release and I hope that people will like it.”

On the one-year anniversary of the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February, Shayri performed her song Already Enough (Can You Hear Us Calling) at a big anti-war rally in Stockholm, where Sweden’s Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson, the former Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson, and the Ukrainian ambassador Andriy Plakhotnyuk took part. The single features the American musician Michael Blair (Elvis Costello, Tom Waits, Lou Reed a.o.) and the Swedish actress Therese Brunnander from The Royal Dramatic Theater.

“Actually, I really like living in Stockholm. Sweden is an amazing and great musical country!”, says Shayri. “Here in Sweden, I feel some peaceful kind of inner happiness. I’ve met wonderful people who are musicians and have helped me with my career during all the time that I’ve been here.”
