Indie rock band The Burma have released their latest single ‘Same Again’ via Spooner Records, which was premiered via Rolling Stone India. The single comes off of their upcoming EP release titled Sugar Moonlight (3rd April 2020). So far the band has played as support for musicians like The Academic, The Strypes and Delorentos . Other noteworthy performances include festivals like Vantastival, Doolin Folk Fest and Whelans Ones to Watch. They gained support with their first single release ‘Quicksand’, which recieved regular airplay nationally at the time of its release.
The group consists of old friends Tony O’Donovan (vocals) and Peter Piggott (guitar) as well as Cian Doherty (Doolin, Co. Clare drummer). The band is named after The Burma Steps in Cobh, Co. Cork, Ireland. All three band members grew up in Ireland, but they all have strong familial roots in England. They have credited the work of The Killers, The Smiths, Arctic Monkeys, and The Strokes as highly influential to their music, and sound. ‘Same Again’ will create fond nostalgia of first loves or young adolescence, insert your mental picture of monumental young adult flashbacks while listening to ‘Same Again’.
Speaking of the single, The Burma shares, “We’ve been playing this song for a couple of years and it’s gone through loads of different variations to get to where it’s at now. There’s a shout out to Coolamber in the Chorus which is the estate Tony grew up in Cobh. This track works well as a set opener.”
