Das Mörtal returns with the two-track single ‘DRAIN ME’, released 30 September 2026 via Lisbon Lux Records, accompanied by a remix from Dan Terminus and setting the stage for the forthcoming mini-album DECVY I, set for 29 October 2026. Now based in Montréal after formative years in Berlin, Das Mörtal crafts a distinctive brand of dark synthwave shaped by German techno, occult electro, Italo disco, and the atmospheres of horror and sci-fi soundtracks. His catalogue has surpassed 31.4 million Spotify streams, with releases landing on genre-defining playlists such as Retrowave // Outrun and Darkwave, and earning Most Added New Release on the Top 200 NACC college chart, as well as features on YouTube channels like NewRetroWave. Since 2015, Das Mörtal has performed nearly 100 shows, including over 70 shows across the US and Europe in the UK, France, and Scandinavia, with appearances at Osheaga, Transmusicales de Rennes, FME, and Meg Festival, and support slots for Vitalic, Perturbator, and Carpenter Brut.

‘DRAIN ME’ opens with a sweeping tone that resolves into a stark first chord, immediately establishing its dark synthwave identity. Propelled by a brisk, techno-inflected rhythm and arpeggiated synth plucks, the track moves through a heavily sidechained midsection where washed-out vocals drift above the mix. The percussion shifts to half-time before the final chorus returns with added weight. Themes of obsession, exhaustion, and emotional decay are woven into the hypnotic synth textures and dense beats, offering a preview of DECVY I for fans of Crystal Castles, Kap Bambino, and You Love Her. Dan Terminus, regarded alongside Perturbator, Carpenter Brut, and GosT as one of synthwave’s leading figures, transforms the original with glitch-infused vocal edits, a reimagined low end blending acoustic and synthetic bass, punchy percussion, and subtle violin flourishes.

Das Mörtal revealed: “A track about the feeling of running in circles in the health care system while being drained from the multiple tests one person might go through.”
