ZOCO reveals “Restless” on Z3 Records, expanding a guitar-led universe ahead of LUMANISTA (Part 1). Geneva-born multi-instrumentalist Marco Zocco introduces the project with a debut single that doubles as a blueprint: release date September 19, 2025, production by Gunnar Nelson with executive production from Kerry Brown. The recording footprint underscores the project’s scope—Los Angeles (Licorice Pizza Records) and Milan (Massive Arts Studios), with vocal production/recording in Nashville—yielding a coherent, high-definition sound that travels well from studio monitors to car stereos.
Co-written with brothers Paolo and Matteo Zocco, and sharpened with lyrical input from Stanford friend Jack LeVant, “Restless” frames a clear thesis: break routine and choose spontaneity. The hook makes that intent audible; the brothers’ “whoa” chorus turns resolution into a shared signal without tipping into excess.
Performance credits are precision-cast. Carmine Rojas supplies melodic, elastic bass lines; drums alternate between Slim Jim Phantom’s brush motor and London Hudson’s modern drive, giving verses glide and choruses lift. Marco Zocco handles vocals, guitars, piano, synth and percussion, while Gunnar Nelson adds backing vocals. On the production side, Marco co-produces with engineer Jake Pace, alongside Carmine Rojas, shaping a track that privileges song architecture over ornament.
The sonics are disciplined and readable. Mix engineer Stephen DeAcutis foregrounds the baritone and carves space for guitars to expand without smearing; synth and piano function as atmosphere rather than ballast. Mastering by Howie Weinberg locates the sweet spot between competitive loudness and dynamic glide, preserving transients and chorus impact.
As a preface to LUMANISTA (Part 1) (early January 2026), “Restless” positions ZOCO at the intersection of alternative rock and cinematic pop, with peripheral influences from metal, electronica and blues waiting in the wings. Expect subsequent chapters to keep guitar motifs central while widening the palette; each video—starting with “Restless,” set in Geneva—maps the material onto place, extending the project’s narrative beyond the studio cut.
