Neacal is a producer, singer-songwriter who has been a composer for over 16 years. Before he shifted directions to orchestral pop he was involved in the progressive rock arena, where he was part of one of the biggest bands in Eastern Europe. This change in direction has proven to be invaluable, with his debut single ‘The Bell’ receiving acclaim from CLASH Magazine, while his second single ‘Out of Control’ received support from NOTION

‘Unrest’ is a fervent ballad about one of Neacal’s most pivotal moments in his healing and mental health journey. In his debut album, it serves as a turning point where the stakes are at their highest. Neacal’s bravery and vulnerability are laudable in each of his offerings. His ability to express the inner workings of his mind, heart and soul is exemplary, and would entice fans of The Irrepressibles and Cinematic Orchestra.

Neacal shares: “’Unrest’ is the culminating point of my upcoming debut album, where the emotional stakes are at their highest, and the drama peaks. Despite its sombre mood and underworld-themed imagery, this is not a song about embracing death, but about conquering it. And such victory may only come at a very high cost. For me personally this song was a harbinger of my inevitable mental meltdown, an internal collapse that had already begun by that time unbeknownst to me, and that took months to overcome.”

In the track, he shares a unique take on death and ultimately transformation. ‘Unrest’ begins minimally, with Neacal’s vocals as the driving force, as it slowly eases into a ritualistic climax, featuring trademark orchestral pop influences. The music video is a celestial experience from beginning to end. It was filmed on the Scottish shores with black and white colour grading illuminating its esoteric and otherworldly nature.
