Neacal, an emerging chamber pop artist, shared his second single, ‘Out of Control’ on August 16, 2024, through his imprint Neacal Music. Known for founding a prominent instrumental progressive/post-rock band from Eastern Europe—amassing nearly 5 million streams and touring Europe and Asia—Neacal has also composed original soundtracks for video games. The new track, written, produced, and mixed by Neacal with co-mixing by Ivan Lubianyi and mastering by Ian Shepherd (Deep Purple, New Order), draws inspiration from the brooding orchestral pop of Woodkid and Agnes Obel. Fans of cinematic sounds like The Irrepressibles and Ólafur Arnalds will likely find much to admire in his music.

‘Out of Control’ departs from the playful charm of its predecessor, ‘The Bell’ venturing into a more melancholic emotional terrain. It’s a wintry ballad, featuring sweeping strings and soulful horns that create a rich, nuanced backdrop for Neacal’s deeply moving vocals. As he sings about emerging from a place of despair, the instrumental arrangement serves as both a delicate and complex canvas for his heartfelt performance.

Neacal shared: “This song was born during one of my most severe episodes of depression, but despite that fact, it’s a hymn of hopefulness and acceptance. Here my suppressed part expresses its realisation that it is not going to dissolve into nothingness as previously expected, and that there’s a chance it will gain life and freedom along the way. In ‘Out of Control’, it finds itself still lurking in the shadows, but now it inevitably crawls towards the light, even if that might be the light of an explosion. Things will get better, even if they might get worse before that happens.”
