What are four words you would use to describe your music?

Thick, versatile, post-genre, emotional.

What was the first album/CD you ever bought?

I don’t really remember. It was probably an album by a New York jazz saxophonist, maybe Greg Tardy. But, I remember my first vinyl. It was either Fleet Foxes’ self-titled album or MuteMath’s Play Dead. I bought them at the same time.

What album do you know every word to?

I am not so good with lyrics, since I consider myself mostly an instrumentalist. However, melodies stick with me and leave a bigger impact. The deepest ones for me could be Coldplay’s ‘X&Y’, MuteMath’s ‘Odd Soul’ and Kenny Garrett’s ‘Songbook’.

As a musician, it becomes apparent that there is a huge difference between the art and the business. Is there anything about the music scene that you would personally change?

That’s a hard question. I would like to delete social media and let the music, the band, and their fans’ connection speak for itself. I feel like TikTok and even Instagram fame are just like balloons full of air. Fast fame and a short career span – if you hit the algorithms right, you can fill an arena once or twice, but putting out valuable albums and music more than once is very hard work. Balloon-like musicianship will just deflate and disappear. So, I would love it if the industry didn’t measure a band’s value by the number of followers they have on social media. I’ve seen reports of empty clubs because of this, and have also experienced sold-out gigs with no social media presence.

Share some advice for other bands/artists creating original music?

Don’t worry if it takes time.

What is the most memorable response you have had to your music?

That’s a very good question. I should save or keep those responses in mind because I know I’ve received some really good ones, but I can’t really bring any to mind. Sadly, those memories are foggy. They shouldn’t be. My goal is always to make people calm and bring them to a better place, so when people tell me they experienced something similar while listening to my music, that always makes me happy. I probably can’t remember well because I am always very bad when people compliment me, and I just black out or start thinking about my next project or how the show could be even better. I don’t know. I should work on this too.

If you could create your own radio show, what kind of music would you feature and why?

All kinds. I love almost everything. It just has to have meaning, a message, soul, some kind of value. I listen to everything from old-school jazz to hardcore, to hip hop, to lo-fi, to CCM, to R&B, gospel, classical, contemporary brain-storming music, ambient – a lot of genres. I love to be touched by music and art in general. If it has that thing I’m looking for in the moment, for sure I would play it.

One last nugget of info you can’t wait to share with your fans?

Soon we will be releasing a new single with babapiros, and then an EP of mine which is almost done. So there will be more…soon.
