New York-based musician Totten Bridge has released a new single, ‘Better Than Me,’ via StephJam Music on October 13th. His music has accumulated over 1.5 million streams across various platforms and earned recognition from publications such as Notion Mag, Earmilk, Backseat Mafia, and Medium. Additionally, ‘Better Than Me’ has already received support from notable tastemaker CLASH. Despite being influenced by the likes of Sam Fender, Thirty Seconds To Mars, Coldplay, and Imagine Dragons, his music is too distinctly eclectic to be pinned down to one genre. Broadly, his music could be best described as rock with influences that incorporate pop, folk, motown, and even EDM at times.

Better Than Me‘ is an upbeat track infused with emotion, evoking the sounds of  pop-rock groups like Imagine Dragons and Bastille. There is a vast and engaging variation of movement, ranging from subtle but potent piano ballad verses to full-bodied anthemic choruses, awash with explosive drums, searing guitars and synth effects. Totten Bridge’s vocals are raw and visceral, soaring over the irresistibly catchy melodies and tight instrumental arrangements. Lyrically, the song explores the sobering moment where one realizes that a relationship must come to an end. However, the overarching message is optimistic: one: these hardships are opportunities for us to grow. It is intensely vulnerable and relatable.

Totten Bridge commented: ‘Better Than Meis a song about facing the hard truth that sometimes life and love do not work out like planned.  Sometimes it takes a while to figure it out because you’re in denial but in the crystallization of the moment, it suddenly becomes very clear and you know that you have to move on.  These fateful moments are necessary for our growth even if they’re painful because as the saying goes, “no pain, no gain.”
