Australian electronic musician Eluize has dropped her third album Believe today. She wrote and recorded much of the material during the most intense phase of the pandemic, while pregnant with her second son in her Kreuzberg studio. This meant regular quarter-block walks through snow to reach a musty brick basement, where she would submerge into sound for reflection and forward thinking. She finished the music while relocating her family around the world, marking the end of an important life chapter. After that, the album stayed locked away for years. The project gained backing from the Australian Government through Creative Australia, its central arts investment and advisory organization. Artwork is by Daria Healy-Koljanin. Mix downs were completed on Fleeting Forever, with Xtra Large Mixing and Mastering handling ‘RNA’ and ‘Captive’, and mastering by Ten Eight Seven.
Ethereal vocals intertwine with driving percussion, sharp acid lines, vibrant leads, and shimmering ambient layers. Early tracks use song-like textures to explore themes of distrust, escape, and addiction. With ‘Light’, the mood brightens, hinting at a new dawn and the spark of renewed hope. The title track and ‘Captive’ pulse with club energy, urging listeners to move and resist. Later, the gentle sway of electronica in ‘Impatience’ and the uplifting flight of ‘Serendipity’ offer space for reflection. The journey closes with ‘RNA’, where electro undertones evoke a bittersweet mix of melancholy and optimism, ending with the comfort of self-discovery.
Eluize had this to say: “I wrote “Believe” in the height of the pandemic, while pregnant with my second son, in my studio in Kreuzberg. I would walk the quarter block through the snow, to a musty, brick basement, to lose myself in sound, to reflect and imagine whatwould become of it all. I finished the music as I moved my family across the globe, and without realising it, through the ending of an immensely pivotal chapter of a life. Then it sat, for years, stuck. With great joy and relief, it’s finally time to release my white knuckled grip and let it go. I hope it is helpful to some of you, wherever and whenever you are. Love E xo.“
