Syrian-Armenian-American producer and vocalist Káryyn will drop her long-awaited second full-length Physics Universal Love Language (Pull) on May 29 through Mute. The record builds directly on the foundation she laid with 2019’s The Quanta Series, a project that turned heads for its dense vocal stacking and electronic experimentation rooted in her cross-cultural background. Back then, critics noted how she fused classical influences with forward-thinking production, creating tracks that hit with physical intensity while pulling from personal and ancestral narratives. This new effort pushes that approach further, arriving after a string of 2024 releases including the Calm Kaoss! EP and Káryyn Remixed, plus scattered singles that kept her momentum going.

Leading the album is ‘Collapse Phase’, the single that first signaled its direction complete with a video helmed by Jenna Marsh. The track locks into heavy, pulling rhythms while Káryyn‘s vocals hang in suspense, playing off the push between long sustains and sharp decays. It frames a direct encounter through systems breaking down to clear room for change with her voice steering the shifts in force.

Production duties split between Hudson Mohawke and James Ford, with key input from Marta Salogni, Jacques Greene, and Joker sharpening the edges across the ten tracks. What stands out is how tightly everything holds together: vocal treatments layer without clutter, electronic pulses sync up precisely, and guest elements fold in like they were always part of the blueprint. Compared to the rawer edge of her earlier work, this feels more controlled, with beats driving forward and atmospheric details merging cleanly. Standout sequences let synth trails linger against vocal bends, building controlled tension that mirrors the album’s core ideas of shift and renewal. Káryyn operates like she’s directing the full arrangement, turning collaborative energy into a focused statement.
