San Francisco duo Karmacoda dropped their latest single, ‘Practically Impossible to Please’, on August 1, 2025, through Sola Musa Music, teaming up with Bay Area vocalist Megan Slankard. Over two decades, Brett Crockett (producer) and Eric Matsuno (multi-instrumentalist) have shaped a sound that dances between electronica, trip-hop, R&B, and dream pop, earning shouts from heavyweights like Wonderland Magazine, CLASH Magazine, and EARMILK. Their tracks have spun on NPR and RTÉ 2XM, while their visuals snagged a Platinum Hermes Creative Award for ‘Lo-Fi Girl’ and a Gold Unglued Music Video award for ‘Make Me The One’.

The track itself, ‘Practically Impossible to Please’, digs into 90s/2000s Soul Pop vibes with a modern twist. Megan Slankard, a standout with her band The Wreckage and over 50,000 indie album sales, delivers vocals that cut deep, backed by Brett Crockett’s smooth, R&B-laced production. Co-written by the pair, it’s a soul-stirring jam with gospel echoes that hit hard and linger long.

Brett Crockett shared: “I wanted to write a modern R&B, Soul, electronica-tinged song with an old school vibe. We reached out to our friend vocalist and musician Megan Slankard who loved the music. Megan wrote the lyrics and sang the vocal lead and did a fantastic emotional job. The song is about, as the title implies, someone in a troublesome relationship and states that she is ‘practically impossible to please’.”
