This isn’t your typical party spot—it’s the island’s first true vinyl-only listening experience, pulling inspiration from Japan’s chill jazz kissa tradition and Ibiza’s free-spirited musical roots. Perched on the west coast at Cala Molí, Urusai opens its doors daily from golden hour into the night, offering a fresh take on the sunset ritual. It’s a bold pivot in a place famous for its electronic beats, proving there’s still room for the warm crackle of vinyl in the global capital of dance music.
The music here is the real deal. Jaime Fiorito, son of DJ Alfredo—a pioneer of the Balearic sound—curates the vinyl-only DJ sets, spinning a wild mix of Jazz, Soul, Funk, Disco, Afro-Boogie, and Balearic Disco. The collection spans the ‘70s to the ‘00s, with rare gems and reissues from heavyweights like Alice Coltrane, Patrick Cowley, and Nu Guinea. Backed by a rotating lineup of global tastemakers, the vibe stays unpredictable yet intentional. The custom sound system—featuring handcrafted coaxial speakers made from Baltic birch plywood and a hybrid analog-digital mixer—delivers studio-grade clarity that’s all about deep listening, not just dancing. It’s an audiophile’s dream come to life.
The space itself is a stunner, designed by Kulapat Yantrasast of WHY Architecture, known for his work with Tadao Ando and major museum projects. Think minimalist sanctuary with a sculptural vortex centerpiece that keeps the focus on the music. Then there’s Urusai Izakaya, where chefs Taku Yuji Mikurya and Romain Littière whip up a killer menu blending Japanese flavors with Ibizan flair—think toro sando, red prawn soba, and cocktails like lychee martinis. More than a bar, Urusai channels Ibiza’s ‘70s and ‘80s heyday, when music brought everyone together, from aristocrats to locals.
